PURPLE UP IN APRIL AND FRIDAYS WE WEAR RED

On Friday's Wear Wear Red

Military families and civilians wear red on Fridays, also known as "Red Friday", to show support and solidarity for all military personnel. The tradition originated from an email sent in 2005 that encouraged people to wear red to "Remember Everyone Deployed" (R.E.D.). The email also suggested that recipients share the email and mobilize groups to support the cause.

April is the Month of the Military Child

Dandelions can adapt easily and survive almost anywhere. Military children can put down roots almost anywhere, and they are ready to take advantage of breezes that carry them to new adventures, new lands, and new friends.

“Purple Up! For Military Kids” is a day for DoDEA Communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Wearing purple is a visible way to show support and thank military youth for their strength and sacrifices. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported; Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue all thought to combine together as a single color, purple.
